Just wanted to give a little update here. No, this is not another dead blog…I’ve just been really busy. Busy with what?
- eCommerce Store
- My ecommerce store is up 50% this year so far. It’s growing so fast it’s tough to keep up with. I keep trying to slow it down, but it’s just cranking! (we should hit $75K this year)
- Moving to Wisconsin
- My family and I are in the process of moving to Wisconsin (my home state). We own a condo here in San Diego that we must rent or sell (looks like rent right now). I am also changing jobs, that’s enough alone to give anyone some extra stress.
- New Daughter
- I have a brand new baby daughter (our second). Don’t need to say much more…I need to spend time with her.
The posts will get more regular with time. The next couple of months will be tough, though. Once we get where we’re going, we should be much better off. Until then…have a beer.
Later,
JBSlife
Relax and enjoy some time with your family…I am. Today is a day off for this blogger. Once again, happy Easter.
I have decided to change my theme to be more in the style of “J.B.Slife”. I’ll get all the bugs worked out of it over the next couple of days.
My second daughter is due today…my wife is scheduled for a C-section at noon. My thoughts are a bit scattered, but I wanted to make a useful post today. The following post is short, sweet, and useful…enjoy. For pictures of Layla Jae, the new baby, check out SlifeFamily.com later on tonight.
The other night I saw a story about comedian Eddie Griffin. He wrecked a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo. Oops! For complete coverage and video check out this site.
Anyways…as I was searching the net for info on the Griffin crash, I came across WreckedExotics.com. Here’s a description of the site:
Welcome to the internet’s largest collection of exotic car crash photos. We display over 6,000 wrecked exotic cars to show you the real consequences of reckless driving.
Below is a shot from WreckedExotics.com, I though John Chow would get a kick out of this.

Browsing around Digg, I found Digg Labs. Digg Labs is a collaboration between Digg and Stamen Design. Stamen Design is resposible for Swarm, Stack, and BigSpy (new Digg visualization). I can’t say that I was surprised…I was astounded. I felt as if I was being sucked into the net. Kakul Srivastava, Senior Product Manager of Yahoo! stated, “Working with the Stamen guys was like having our own site design SWAT team.” Yes…that quote is from Yahoo!, but what a great way to describe what I see at Digg. There’s no way to describe what I see at Digg better than that. If this is Web 2.0, I want more of it.
Stack - The names chosen for Digg Lab projects describe them perfectly. Each dugg story is a stack of blocks. Each time a story is dugg, another block falls from the top of the screen onto the pile. It’s done in real time so all of the stories start out as the same height (no matter how many diggs they currently have). More popular stories are a brighter shade of green; new stories are grey. As time progresses the currently popular stories grow taller. As stories are dugg that are not on the screen, they enter from the right and push the screen to the left. Great visual, check it out!
Swarm - This one is insane, it reminds me of molecular science. The way the swarms move will drive you nuts. I really don’t have the space in my blog to try and explain it, so go see for yourself.
As if these two weren’t good enough, Stamen has done it again for Digg. Their new Web 2.0 vision can be seen here, it’s called BigSpy. WOW…the digg flow is so much more exciting when it slaps you in the face with 200 point text.
Does your site have vision?
Until next time,
JBSlife
